From Flat to
Functional Sanctuary
The Chamberlayne Road project exemplifies My Space London’s ability to reconfigure, repurpose and refine—without compromise.

Project Type: Residential & Light Commercial Conversion
Style: Evolving Japandi
Location: Kensal Rise, London
What began as a tired two-bedroom flat tucked behind a coffee shop has been thoughtfully reimagined into a multi-functional space that blends serene Japandi design with commercial utility.
A Space Reborn
The original flat layout was stripped right back to floorboards and bare plaster. Where two small bedrooms once sat, we created a dedicated office space with a full meeting room and media suite—ideal for content creation, remote work, or private consultation.
The former living room and kitchen were transformed into a warm, welcoming lounge bar and light food prep area. This serves a dual purpose: a private entertaining space and a back-of-house support for the pre-existing coffee shop fronting the street.
Seamless Aesthetic, Thoughtful Craft
The brief was Japandi—natural, textural, calming—and continues to evolve as the space finds new life. Eroku wood, reclaimed and lovingly restored, brings depth and soul to the kitchen, where floating shelving and robust worktops feel as elegant as they are practical.
Natural cottons and linens soften the lines, while a restrained neutral palette ensures a tranquil mood throughout. Lighting plays a pivotal role—shadow gaps and bespoke niches provide atmospheric touches, especially around the window seat and custom-built bar.
Practical Meets Poetic
Behind the beauty lies function. The semi-professional kitchen is fully equipped for light food prep while maintaining a crafted, domestic feel. Adjustable lighting ensures versatility across moods and times of day. French doors open the space to the garden—inviting a natural flow between indoors and out—while a newly inserted skylight above draws light deep into the core of the layout.
The external garden will form the next phase of this project, creating a private oasis that complements the interior’s calm precision.

“It’s completely changed how we use the space — it’s practical, refined, and works perfectly for both day-to-day work and hosting clients. The quality and attention to detail really stand out.”
